The organisation was formed in 1978 after difficulties were experienced in attracting a stable team of officials for race meetings at Adelaide International Raceway. Since this time SAMROA has developed into a group of competent officials who are well respected in the motor sport community. SAMROA now provides officials for events ranging from club level at Mallala Motor Sport Park to higher profile events such as the Clipsal 500 and the Australian F1 Grand Prix.
SAMROA is a volunteer organisation and it’s members donate their time for the benefit of motor sport.
SAMROA is affiliated with Motorsport Australia (previously known as Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS)) which is the peak sanctioning body for motor sport in Australia. Motorsport Australia has instituted a National Officiating Program which provides a licencing system and training program to ensure that all officials are properly prepared for the tasks required of them. This program also ensures consistency of officials across the country which is not only beneficial to competitors but enables officials to travel interstate and easily fit into the organisation at other circuits.
SAMROA are always looking for new members to became part of the team which provides support to motor racing in South Australia.
