2015 People’s Choice Community Lottery

SAMROA will be part of the 2015 People’s Choice Community Lottery.  150 prizes worth a total of $360,000

For every $2 ticket sold, our club will receive $2, Tickets are $2 each and we retain 100% of all proceeds which we generate through the sale of both paper and online tickets. People’s Choice and their partners meet all the costs associated with prizes, promotional material, advertising, printing of tickets, and coordinate all administrative essentials such as distribution, licensing, and statutory requirements – leaving participating organizations clear of any cost.

Any money we raise from the lottery will be used to fund Officials Training.

Tickets purchased online before 30 April 2015 will go into the draw to win the early bird prize – a Hyundai i20 worth $16,188 (drawn 13 May 2015).  That’s a fantastic opportunity to win this great prize.  Of course, paper Lottery tickets will be still be issued from 1 May 2015, and both online and paper tickets will be on sale until 18 September.  The draw will take place on 20 October 2015.

Vale – Lui Mori

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of our very own Lui Mori. His cheeky smile, the twinkle in his eyes and his gentle manner will be missed by us all. Lui mentored many of our officials, imparting his knowledge and guiding us forward. Our lives are all the better for knowing him.

When funeral arrangements are known, we will email them out.  Chaplain Dave Vaughan is available for a chat if you feel the need to speak to someone.  He can be contacted on 0418 803 239 or email davnar@adam.com.au

Our thoughts and prayers go out to David Mori and his family.

RIP Lui. xx

Shannons Nationals 25th to 27th April

Hi Everyone,

Many thanks to all who have put their names down for this event, which commences on Anzac Day with practice, then continues over the weekend.

This event is one of the best events for the season, with categories such as Kerrick Sports Sedans,V8 Touring Cars, Porsche GT3’s, Formula Fords, and Super Six Touring Cars making up the programme. We encourage you to come out and enjoy the racing “up close”, and to gain further experience working with the lights based at each flag point.

We have been told that this will be a “lights only” event, which will be a first for most of us.

Numbers for Sunday in particular are a bit light, so we encourage/ask for a few more names to be added to the database.

The cut-off date for putting your name down has been extended until 23rd April, so if you haven’t done so yet, please add your name to the list before then.

Regards to all,

Adam Litchfield (Chief Flag)

Ray McGuiness (Assistant Chief Flag)

Tour of SAPOL Motor Museum

The Social Committee has organised a tour of the SAPOL Motor Museum at the Road Safety Centre (part of the Thebarton Barracks) on Friday 15 November at 6:30 pm followed by a BBQ (sorry, strictly no alcohol).

This will be a joint event between SAMROA and the Walkerville All Cars Club (Walky). Numbers are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first come basis.

If you wish to attend please email Peter Tann (treasurer@samroa.org.au). As numbers are limited, if you book a place and subsequently find you are unable to attend, please let me know ASAP in case someone else would like to attend. Please refer to the attached Map and parking instructions. Our host for the evening will be Sergeant John Illingworth (without Humphry B Bear), who some of you will have seen competing at Mallala events. I hope you haven’t met more formally!

Look forward to seeing you there.

Cheers Peter Tann
